The Case for PHMS

Technological advancement is the backbone for the successful development and advancement of any society. Engineers are the primary group saddled with the task of fostering technological advancement. Hence the development of any society would be proportional to the viability of its engineering population. The capacity of the engineering population to perform in the highest levels is dependent on adequate knowledge and training engineers at different levels receive. Engineering professionals in developing countries like Nigeria find it difficult to access the right kind education to help them function optimally. Issues ranging from inadequate and competent human resources, funding research and technological development projects and lack of relevant learning infrastructure are but a few challenges confronting the Nigerian engineer. With this climate most our professionals are below par when compared to their counterparts in the developed world.

We are responding to these needs by organizing The Port Harcourt Maintenance Summit is an Educational Project targeting Engineering professionals at all levels including undergraduate engineering students. The Objective is to bridge the widening skills gap in the engineering profession in Nigeria by providing an alternative learning environment where professionals can meet face to face with top experts and influencers, Connect with peers (Networking), Learn from other professionals going through similar challenges like they are, in a new space and environment away from the rigors of work. This we believe will create avenues for collaboration and Growth in Nigeria. For young graduates and undergrads, we are looking to equip them with the right skills to help them thrive when they get into the industry.
